After a thrilling week of music-making, sight-seeing, and socialising, culminating in an acclaimed performance of Beethoven’s Mass in C in the Cathedral of St Jakob, Innsbruck, we are now looking forward to Berwang Music ’27, when the principal work to be studied will be the German Requiem of Brahms (in German). This will be in the piano duet version initially made by Brahms himself, recently arranged by Maurice Hodges. The course will be directed by Tim Brown (formally Director of Music, Clare College, Cambridge), assisted by David Dunnett, returning by popular demand, until recently Organist of Norwich Cathedral.
With returning singers already booking accommodation for 2027 from around Europe, the UK, Israel and the USA, we anticipate another exciting course, culminating in a public concert on August 21st.
Apart from studying the Requiem, the course will study a mixed repertoire of other choral classics, with opportunities for solo singing, and there will be plenty of spare time for pop-up groups to sing together.
